The Snell Family,
I was a colleague of Mrs. Snell at AP Low School in Labrador City. She was such a sincere and wonderful person with that everlasting wonderful expression on her face. She made you feel good! She was a joy to be around and I feel so fortunate to have been a part of her life in Labrador City, Newfoundland and Labrador. I learned lots from her. And, I remember her visiting our house when our first daughter Ashley was born in the BIG Storm of January 1982! She had lots of wisdom to share.
All the best to the family as you mourn the lost of your mom and at the same time celebrate a life well lived. And, 101 years of life … what a milestone!
Our thoughts and prayers,
Gordon, Holly and daughters Ashley and Leigha all former residents of Labrador City, NL.

Members of the Snell family: Margaret and I extend our sincere condolences to you and yours on the death of 'Mrs. Snell', she was truly force in the life of many, especially in Labrador West! The picture in the obituary captures her in a most powerful way.
I remember her first of all as a parent of a student in my class at LCC, Yvonne. We got to know all of her family and to be fortunate enough to have Mrs. Snell as our first Librarian and the 'go to' person for library matters in our school system. When I saw the obituary, my mind flashed back to a cold January morning while passing through the A. P. Low School, I was flagged down by Mrs. Snell and 'advised' that the School Board needed to get sand for the parking lots, especially the school bus areas. She also noted that she wasn't as young as she used to be and was unsteady on the icy areas! Renee was obviously much stronger than she realized and had 50 more years helping others. I might also mention that her valued opinions were recognized in a significant manner when she was appointed as a member of the 'Snowden Royal Commission on Labrador'. Yes, she was a positive force for more than just her family, our town and our school system.
Sincere best regards to the family of Renee and Lorne.
Bob & Margaret Martin

Bill first met the Snell family when he worked in Labrador City in 1961 and experienced their warm hospitality and delicious home cooked meals-a real treat for a young man far from home.We connected with Anne again when she attended Memorial University in St. John's and our families have been dear friends ever since.
We enjoyed many visits to Renee & Lorne at their farm & always looked forward to seeing Renee when she lived with Anne in Barrie.Renee was a warm, caring .lovely lady-a true Matriarch to her family.I especially remember one day when my friend Margaret & I were driving Renee from Anne's home in Barrie to visit her friend-about a 3 hour drive. We did not want the drive to end because Renee had us spellbound with her amazing stories.
Our sincere condolences to Anne,Yvonne, Wanda & their families. We will always cherish our wonderful memories of Renee and hold you all close to our hearts.

We loved Renee on first meeting. Early on in our acquaintance, she endeared herself to me even further. Bert was bemoaning the fact that we didn't have jigg's dinner as often as he would like, as I was trying to be health conscious. Renee looked at Bert and said in her lovely accent, yes Bert, you look hard done by! I use that line all of the time. We will never forget her, such a lovely, sweet presence in our lives.

I was deeply saddened to learn of Mrs. Snell's passing. She was the kindest, sweetest lady I knew growing up in Labrador City. I was always treated warmly and like a member of the family every time I was at their house. Jeannie and I would sneak Pig's in a Blanket just out of the oven around Christmastime. They were the best! I have very fond memories of Mrs. Snell. She will be greatly missed. She is resting in heaven now with my mother enjoying a cup of tea and having a grand chat!
