My memories of Eldon go back to my teenage years, when he worked with Randle’s mom. He was always friendly, approachable, and fun to be with. When Randle and I moved back to Renfrew in ‘76, he persuaded us to join the Tennis Club. He was its biggest booster, and one of the main reasons it is such a successful club today. He got so many people to take up the game. He was always so inclusive- encouraging newbies, willing to play with rank amateurs, and always making sure everyone could participate, regardless of skill level. I worked for him for many years, and as an employer he couldn’t be beat. I have nothing but good memories of Eldon- his warmth and friendliness, his gift for the gab, his kindness and generosity. As a long-time friend he is irreplaceable. We will all miss him so much.

Eldon Ferguson was a great guy. He was always positive and had a great sense of humour. I remember fondly our golf outings, usually with his partner in the firm Stephen, and sometimes with Irene as well. He will be sorely missed by family, friends, and the community.

Dear Irene and Families,
Please accept my deepest condolences on the passing of one of the finest gentlemen going. " Eldon " . What fun, and interesting chats we had when we attended our end of season bowling banquets.
My fondest memory. Eldon buying me O'DOUL'S beer all evening at the banquet and me not even realizing they were alcohol free and I left my car and walked home.
Thank you Eldon, for I have never drank since.

Such a great loss for so many. Eldon was the embodiment of "in the end the love you take is equal to the love you make" He was so kind and giving, funny, hard working, adventurous and just an all around good human being. We were very sad to learn of Eldon’s passing. Our family enjoyed many hours at the Renfrew Tennis Club. Eldon was a strong, but gentle mentor to so many players of varying ages and abilities. His humour, grace and organization contributed much to the success of the club.

Eldon was simply one of the nicest guys I have known. I first met Eldon back in the mid-seventies through the Renfrew Tennis Club which was then situated in the RCI parking lot! I fondly recall many long doubles matches with my tennis partner Kirby (Smart) and Eldon and his partner Garry (Irving). I remember tennis being followed up by visits to the Butsons downstairs pub and/or Swingers restaurant. I remember all the work Eldon did (with other senior tennis members) in getting the new tennis club setup at Ma-te-Way park. I remember the more recent golf outings where he never seemed to show the frustrations of most golfers (perhaps aided by the fact he never seemed to miss a fairway). Mostly though, I will remember a really great guy who everybody fully enjoyed being around.

Eldon was a wonderful man!
I enjoyed my years of playing tennis against him and dealing with him professionally. In both he was always so fair. He never took advantage of lesser players including myself.
I especially enjoyed the tennis tournaments when everyone who wasn't playing at the time would sit and comment on the play and the players (always in a teasing manner).
He was a gentleman and a gentle man.
He will be much missed.
