Dear Lips Family:
My heartfelt sympathies on the loss of Steve. He was such an inspiration to those who had the same challenges as him. I have two special memories that I would like to share. The one is when we went snowmobiling in Denbigh and it was the first time that I was on a snowmobile. Steve helped take the nervousness away. The second one is when he worked at a hotel in Ottawa and he spent the time with the Prime Timers showing us around the city. He was always smiling and was willing to participate in whatever activity was scheduled. Our Heavenly Father has gained an angel and your family has lost a member. May you receive an extra special measure of peace, love and comfort as you go through these difficult days especially in this time .Steve is now able to partake in services without any health issues. What a reunion he will have with his dad and Linda. Pray for you every day.

With deep sadness we heard the message of Steve's passing. We send our love. So many great memories of youth gatherings at the Kanabe's home, laughing with Steve over a joke, watching movies and having a great time together !

Dear Steve it is with extreme shock to hear of your sudden passing and as such it has taken me some time to gather my thoughts and reflections . It was 1 day before your passing that we spoke together and were so looking forward to seeing you on Saturday after New Year's Day.
Steve my friend it has been a wonderful friendship we have had dating back 4 decades beginning at the moment when I was working at Pizza Hut in Cornwall and you showed up as part of a Ski bus trip - we did not speak then but our eyes did meet and we knew that we had seen each other at church in Montreal. Our Friendship truly began when you moved to Ottawa and we spent many hours together in Gods work you as a choir leader and then later as a minister in the Ottawa church. While we were from very different backgrounds it is our faith and activity in Gods work that united us. We had many great days together in the youth group in Ottawa. As well you introduced me to the beauty of Denbigh and your wonderful parents and siblings.
I was honoured to have you as my Best Man at my wedding and always it was a joy to be with you even when we had heated discussions but our faith always kept us together.
There is so much to say that I can't put it all here but you know you are and and always will be in my heart and I look so forward to seeing you in the future if God grants me the grace to be able to so.
I will truly miss you so very much.
Love your friend John

I sang with Steven in the Pembroke Community Choir. When I joined the choir a couple of years ago, he was one of the first people who made me feel welcome, with his kind, friendly and helpful nature and his big smile. Soon, I learned that he lived in a house not too far from my own. Often, when I passed on my daily walk, he would be out on his porch and we would chat and share a laugh. I liked him very much and appreciated his sense of humor. Although I did not know Steven for very long, I considered him a friend and I will miss him.
Extending sincere condolences to Steven’s family. May he Rest In Peace.

To Steven's family, what a shock to hear of Steven's death. I sang with him in the bass section of the community choir and we had so many conversations on so many subjects that came our way and in his life past and present. I have a sister living in Denbigh and we along with other sisters and friends spent many a delightful meal in the Swiss Inn. It was so nice to meet Steven to relate to his time there and talk about the great food his family was responsible for. We talked about his travels and job he had enjoyed so much and the disappointment the Swiss Inn had come to, always hoping it would resurrect its self once again to be the wonderful place it was. He was so upbeat and so caring and really had a sense of what the world's people should be to one another. I will miss him. He is out of pain and struggle now and at peace. RIP Steve

God be with you our Brother and friend until that day we will meet again when our Heavenly Father comes to take us home also. We will treasure the many wonderful conversations with had with you sharing experiences of faith and also the great laughters we had. You will be always in our hearts as you left huge prints in them. We also still remember the wonderful stays at the Swiss Inn as my late father did love Denbigh and enjoyed this tremendously.
Our Prayers and thoughts will be with your Mother and your Brother.
Rest in Peace until we meet again.

I will always remember Steven as a polite young man. I worked at Swiss Inn for many years and interacted with him on a daily basis. Steven and Linda were the politest of children. I want to express my sympathy to Martha, Peter, Karen and families. Rest in peace.

We knew Steven, Linda and Peter as youngsters (at home with their parents, of course), and later in life were privileged to keep in touch and share some time together. Steven came to Chatham on a weekend outing, we could spend some good time together again. So sorry to hear, we send our condolences to Martha and Peter and family, and to so many friends. We look forward to our next meeting, where there are no more partings.
