Dear Kathy & Jim:
Our sincere condolences in the loss of a Mom so dear to you. It was always a pleasure to visit your Mom, we all had such great times together. She was a highlight at get-togethers and everyone loved her good nature and humour, no one else could have left such wonderful memories or touched people's hearts in quite the same way. I always felt like part of your family as we met in Grade 2 and are still good friends after all those years. Your Mom was a wonderful lady and you were a wonderful daughter to her Kathy, she always told me how much she appreciated you. What more could anyone ask for!

She was like my second mom,always welcome at her door,smiling,cocktails and snacks miraculously appeared.She was more to me,she was my friend.I will miss her immensely,my only regret is that I should
have visited one last time!No one could prepare you for how life changes when dementia sets in.You did everything you possibly could but dementia would not release it’s hold.She is now at peace and in time you too will be.Hugs

I first met Kay as a young teen at a barn dance at Ellen and Doug Stoughton’s. My Aunt and Uncle. Later on, in the early 80’s, I joined Dr Max Buxton as his nurse/receptionist when the Calabogie Medical Centre reopened. It was at that time I reacquainted myself with many of those old guard in the village Your Mom was one of those special people of her era. Strong - absolutely. Shy - hardly. And so funny. We shared many a laugh over both the current day’s doings and past memories.
Katie was just a wonderful, lovely lady and a joy to spend time with. Sadly, after I left the medical centre I lost track of many of my Calabogie “friends” including your Mom. Clearly, despite any health challenges that fell her way, at 99 years Katie had a life well lived. Celebrate that. And k et all your many memories bring you comfort during this sad time. RIP Katie
