We are keeping you all in our thoughts and prayers as you celebrate the life of Uncle Johan. I remember that he always pursued his hobbies and interests with a passion and enthusiasm that was larger than life. From the model trains that weaved their way through an immense and detailed countryside set aside for them in a room in your home, to the exquisite artwork displayed, gifted and appreciated by many family members and friends. I have a beautiful piece of art that he created in April 1983...water lapping on a rocky shore as the sun is casting a beautiful orange hue through parted clouds. This piece hangs on the wall above my desk, I see it every day...I will pause and I will remember my wonderful Uncle Johan whose interests were many, whose diverse talents were exceptional, and whose love for music and the arts was contagious. You will be missed.

My very much loved older brother; my friend and protector as we were growing up. You taught me to love classical music and art. I treasure all the CDs you made for me and all the paintings you created that decorate the walls of our home. I see your tremendous talent in them every time I look at them. I will treasure the many wonderful memories we made over the years. I look forward to when we see one another again. I'm thankful you were always such an important part of my life. I love and miss you Johan.

My thoughts and prayers are with you, Aunt Lillian, Chris, Sabrina, Durwyn and your children. I have many fond memories of Uncle Johan - family Christmas' in Kingston; his bird aviary and years later, a scenic bike ride around Ottawa with Sabrina and me - to name a few. His love of classical music inspired me to explore that genre and I continue to enjoy it to this day! Hugs to you all.

Lillian and family - Johannes was a man with many interests - classical music, reading, gardening etc. Always enjoyed visits at the garden centre and his helpful guidance. As a choir member I enjoyed watching his head movements while Elizabeth played on the organ or piano. My thoughts and prayers are with you and trust there are many happy memories.

I am sending my deepest condolences on Uncle John's passing to Aunt Lilian, Christopher, Sabrina, Derwin, and their families. I have many memories of Uncle John when I was a little girl, especially his music collection. I also have many memories of playing shulbaak in Grampa's basement with everyone! "Tumar" Uncle John!!!!!

Johann was a wonderful man with many opinions and thoughts and often encouraged people to think deeper; to look not only at the issue at hand but the whole picture. I have many fond memories of Uncle John (Johan) . I would caregiver for John and Lillian for date night , and oh how he loved scalp rubs ! He was such a talented man from painting and book binding to photography. He agreed to be my photographer for my wedding ! His love of music was shared in the family ….
