Obituary of Paula Margaret Johnston

On September 23rd 1968 Paula Johnston (nee Moriarity) came into this world and on September 23rd 2024, she left us on her own terms with dignity after more than a 25yr battle with Multiple Sclerosis and in recent years a secondary diagnosis of ALS. Paula spent her career as a nurse at the Renfrew Victoria Hospital in different roles including Geriatric care and the Dialysis unit. She loved being a caregiver and enjoyed her friends and coworkers there. Until she lost the use of her limbs she was a ball of fire and full of energy and never sat still. She spent her adult life enjoying Hurds Lake boating, swimming, walking, hiking, and cross-country skiing . She loved to cook and have her family close by.  As the disease progressed she had home care by many different nurses and PSW’s that she mentored along the way and made many new friends that became part of her new life of being confined to a wheel chair.

Paula is survived by her husband and best friend Vincent Johnston, her daughter Rebecca and her 4 grandchildren Carter, Damien, Adrianna and Finn, and her sisters Megan and Shelley. She will be missed by many friends and family members. She was predeceased by her mother and father Neal and Margaret Moriarity and recently her brother Kevin Moriarity.
