Obituary of Wilhelm Hermans

A child of God has returned home. Peacefully with family at his side at the Bonnechere Manor on Friday December 29th,  2017. Wilhelm Hermans or “Wil/Bill” as he was known in the community, in his 89th year. Wil came to Canada from the Netherlands, a Dutch Immigrant looking for a new life in the land of opportunity. He enjoyed many years helping farmers across the province through his work with the Ontario Ministry of Agriculture and Food.  His favourite past times included gardening, cooking, fishing, helping at church suppers, playing cards and building puzzles with his grandchildren His passion was people and sharing his knowledge to help those in need. Especially near to his heart was his work with the Canadian Catholic Organization for Development and Peace.  Wil is survived by his loving wife of 52 years Arlette Hermans (Lesage). Dear father to Anne  (M.J. Enright), Paul  (Donnalynn Manion), David (Rocio Flores) and John (Alanna O’Grady). Loving and proud Opa to  Julia, Johanna, Wil, Amanda, Curtis, Liam, Lauren, Leo, Lindy. Dear brother of Annie Guffens-Hermans in Geleen, the Netherlands. Predeceased by brothers and a sister in Canada and the Netherlands. Please join us in celebrating Wil’s life.
