So very sorry to learn today of Bill’s passing. Bill was a friend, mentor, and staunch supporter of Business Education in the province. He gave many, many years of service to the Ontario Business Educators Association, much of it from Renfrew Printing. His presence and sense of humour will be sorely missed at our annual Past Presidents’ Dinner.

I had the privilege of knowing Bill through his leadership of OBEA since I started teaching in 1974. I always looked forward to any time OBEA functions were coming to being with Bill. A truly caring, generous man. I especially would enjoy sharing stories with him and being with him and his dry sense of humour. Our Past Presidents dinner participants will truly miss Bill. Fun, caring, gentle, kind. These are just a very few words describing the man I have know for years - since the 1964. I am saddened for you Deija, Colleen & John and your extended families. My goodness one of the most remarkable gentlemen I have known in my life. Drove me all over Ontario for typing contests (with a manual Underwood typewriter under his arm) with very fond memories. He would graciously ask me to help him out at RCI with my typing skills doing odd jobs and later at Renfrew Printing typing for printing projects. His gentle kindness encouraged students to do their best for him.

Dear McAdam Family and Renfrew Printing Family:
I am so sorry to hear of Bill's passing. The first time I encountered Bill was as a teacher at RCI. He was teaching us a class of Business Machines and the electric adding machine(not a calculator) was replacing the older manual style. When the class thought they were getting pretty skilled with the new adding machines he challenged us to a contest. He had all of us give him a four digit number which he wrote in a column on the blackboard. We were to add the column on the new electric adding machines and he did the addition in his head manually on the chalk board. Most of us thought this is pretty easy. Well, were we in for a surprise. He had the answer long before we did. So in his quiet unassuming way he told us we had to keep practicing until we could beat him. I am still practicing. Bill then welcomed us and supported us in our business endeavour on the main street. We had the pleasure of working with Bill at the church supper at his beloved St. Patricks Church. We will miss his quiet, gentle manner in our business and in our personal journey. Thank you Deija for sharing him with us. Rest in Peace, Bill.

We build a community together but Bill was a pillar in the County of Renfrew. He taught us so much, in so many areas of life, with lessons that last a lifetime. His business presence was dependable and affordable and his charitable spirit knew no bounds. He was a man of faith and hope and he listened with compassion and caring before offering sound advice. He brought an industrious energy to Downtown Renfrew that many could not match. His service was second to none and he finished his workday with a walk in Downtown Renfrew. He will be missed by many but his peaceful nature will live on in each and every heart that had the pleasure of knowing him.

Please accept our condolences at this time on Bill's passing. Over all the years of working on so many projects that involved the services of Renfrew Printing, Bill,with kind consideration and knowledge, unfailingly delivered results. Sadly, even these past months with the publishing of the Admaston/Bromley book, that chronicles Bill's early days as a student at Mt. St. Patrick school, he only saw it in draft form. As I picked up the the printed pages and covers yesterday to deliver to the bindery, the news of Bill's death from Paul and Susan was devastating. I can't imagine the grief that you - Deija, Colleen, John and Dylan are feeling. Renfrew, Mt. St. Patrick and the area has lost a truly compassionate citizen. Mr. McAdam was my teacher in high school at RCI. I just thought of him before New Year’s mainly because for many years when I travelled from Edmonton to come home for Christmas I would stop by at Renfrew Printing to say hello. He was my favourite Teacher and i will remember his smile, how good he was to me and his students.
I was so excited to see him on the boat cruise in Kingston 4 years ago.
