Nanny (to me) or Great Gramma Shirley (to my daughters) will forever be missed and remembered. She was my champion when I was little. She had nothing but kindness and hugs and encouragement for me as I grew older. Always a smile on her face. She left a HUGE impression on my (then) 6 year old daughter when we went to visit her for a few days, 7 years ago, which was the last time I personally saw her. It is hard to believe so many years have gone by and it makes me sad that I haven't been able to make it back for another visit since. She inspires me to paint, and I have a couple of her paintings up around my house that I admire. She was always full of praise and encouragement when it came to my art, and I so appreciated having her there to cheer me on since my mother (her daughter) passed away many years ago. Shirley was blessed to have so many family members who loved and supported her, living close by and taking care of her. My condolences go out to each and everyone of you, as I know the world will feel a little more empty now that she is no longer with us. I implore you to continue to keep her legacy of kindness alive, and be a champion for those who need one, in her honor. With all my love, Nanny, you will be forever remembered and forever missed.
