Obituary of Darlene Mary Powers

With the heaviest of hearts, we announce the passing of Darlene Mary Powers, on Friday June 24, 2022, in Renfrew, Ontario at the age of 65. Darlene is survived by her brothers Clarence, Johnny, and Wilfred Richard; her “adopted” family and “soul sisters” Arlane (Boogs) Williams (Celine Lavigne), Deborah Ann Brisson (Serge), Margaret (Peggy) Williams (Steve Seaman), “niece” Lisa Damon (Brisson) Wolfe and “nephew” Phillip Brisson (Summer Wilson), and Poppy (Felix Williams). She is predeceased by her father, Herbert Powers; her mother Tessie Powers; her brother William; and her sister Shirley. Darlene was born on August 18, 1956 and grew up in Prince Edward Island. She served as a dedicated member of the Canadian Armed Forces for 27 years, retiring in 2006. Darlene spent her life always helping others and being the best friend anyone could wish for. She loved her Australian Shepherd, her handsome boy Mickey, and his brother Jax (Fluffy) who brought her much joy. Darlene made others a priority and looked for every opportunity to lend a hand to somebody else. Her sense of humour and her great big generous heart will be missed by all who knew her. A celebration of life will be held at the Goulet Funeral Home, 310 Argyle St. South, Renfrew K7V 1T9 on Wednesday June 29, 2022, from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. followed by a service at 4:00 p.m. Following the service, there will be a reception at 78 Haramis Drive, Renfrew. Darlene's final resting place will be in Prince Edward Island, the home of her birth. In memoriam, donations may be made to Valley Animal Rescue.
